Organic cutlery reimagined – redesigned by Green Box – reusable to go

Our vision of making plastic cutlery more environmentally friendly and reusable has now become a reality with our “reusable organic cutlery.” It had to be biodegradable. Then we had to consider waste recycling, and our unique reusable cutlery was ready. Of course, it wasn't quite that simple – several years of development and research went into this pioneering work. But this innovative organic cutlery completely redefines sustainability for cutlery in the food service and catering industry. “If you want something done right, do it yourself!” True to this motto, we took the development and production of alternative plastic cutlery into our own hands. The project that led to our “reusable organic cutlery” was funded by the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). With so much expertise, our highly motivated team of developers set themselves the goal of developing an innovative composite material. We have achieved the following goals:

• Bio-based
• Biodegradable
• Suitable for contact with food
• Temperature resistant up to +70 °C
• Suitable for injection molding

Based on the findings of this project, we have developed a material mix from which we now produce reusable organic cutlery here in Germany using injection molding.

The knives, forks, and spoons are made from a completely new mixture of bioplastic and wood flour. This reusable cutlery is a genuine alternative to conventional plastic cutlery and is made from an amazing 80% renewable raw materials. This makes it biodegradable. The wood flour used is a waste product from the wood industry and comes from sustainable forestry. The production of our organic cutlery in Germany is very much in line with our efforts to keep CO2 emissions as low as possible. As a CO2-compensated company, we always keep this in mind. We are extremely proud of the result and are delighted to be able to offer this world first – reusable organic cutlery for your good conscience on the go!

Biodegradable reusable organic cutlery has been on our to-do list for a long time. However, as we couldn't find a product that satisfied us, we developed and manufactured it ourselves.
